Placement aptitude tests are a race against the clock. These notes give each topic one page: the formulas, the shortcut that turns a two-minute question into a twenty-second one, and solved examples you can check yourself.
What makes these Aptitude notes different?
- Shortcuts, not just formulas. The LCM method for time and work, successive percentage change, the alligation cross, CI minus SI, the unit-digit cycle and the clock-angle formula.
- Reasoning as methods. Family trees for blood relations, net-movement tracking for directions, the four-step method for seating puzzles and Venn diagrams for syllogisms.
- The traps. +50% then −50% is not zero, profit is on CP but discount is on MP, average speed is not the simple mean, and left and right flip when people face the centre.
- Hinglish where it helps. Each topic gets a short Hinglish explanation of the idea behind the trick.
How should you use these Aptitude notes?
Learn the squares and cubes on page 3 first, since they speed up every other topic. Then work through a topic a day: read the page, redo the solved examples with a pen, and solve 20 questions against a timer. Use the last page as a formula sheet before the test.
This is Part 12 of the series. For coding rounds after the aptitude test, see the DSA handwritten notes.
FAQ
Questions about these notes
Are these aptitude notes really free?
Yes. The full 26-page PDF is free; email me to request the complete PDF. Share it with friends preparing for placements.
Do the notes cover both quant and reasoning?
Yes. Pages 3 to 17 cover quantitative aptitude (number system to mensuration) and pages 18 to 24 cover logical reasoning (series, coding-decoding, blood relations, directions, seating, syllogisms, clocks and calendars).
Are there shortcuts and tricks, or just formulas?
Both. Each topic has its formulas plus the shortcut that saves time in the test, such as the LCM method for time and work, a + b + ab/100 for successive percentages, the alligation cross and the clock-angle formula, each with a solved example.
Is there practice with answers?
Yes. Every page has solved examples, and page 25 has 12 mixed timed questions with answers and short workings, plus an exam-day strategy.
